Denture Teeth

WHAT IS PROSTHETIC TOOTH?

Oral and dental health is one of the issues that directly affect people's lives. Tooth loss occurs as a result of tooth decay or accidents. Necessary treatments can be applied to replace the lost teeth and new ones can be added. These added teeth are called prosthetic teeth.

TYPES OF PROSTHESIS

Today, the types of prosthetic teeth can offer a wide range of options. The most suitable type of prosthesis is determined by considering various factors such as the patient's mouth structure, expectations and the existing jaw structure, and then the preparation stage is started. It is widely used today.

Fixed Prostheses: As the name suggests, fixed prosthesis teeth are the types of prosthesis used by fixing them inside the mouth. There is no detachable feature. It can be used only in the absence of a single tooth, or it can be used when there is more than one missing tooth.

Removable Dentures: The removable denture, also known as 'denture' among the people, does not remain fixed in the mouth. These prosthetic teeth, which need to be cleaned regularly after use, are applied to eliminate chewing or speech problems due to tooth loss and to obtain a more uniform oral appearance from an aesthetic point of view. There are also different types of removable dentures.

Deflex Prosthesis  (Unbreakable Dental Prosthesis): Deflex Prosthesis (Unbreakable Dental Prosthesis) Deflex prostheses are among the highly preferred prostheses due to their aesthetic appearance and durability. Deflex Prosthesis, which is very efficient in the regulation of eating and drinking habits, is also known for its flexibility. Deflex Unbreakable Prosthesis treatment is not as long or challenging as it is thought. This treatment, which is generally used in patients who have all their teeth removed or have tooth decay problems, does not disturb the patient in any way when placed on the gums, as there are no metal hooks as in other prostheses. Deflex prosthesis treatment is completed within 25 to 30 days after the treatment is started after the primary controls of the patients. The prices of unbreakable dental prosthesis vary greatly according to the treatments of the patients.

WHAT MATERIAL IS THE PROSTHETIC MADE OF?

It is made of two items. The first of these is titanium, the second is an alloy, made by combining metals such as cobalt chromium molybdenum. The important thing here is the material used in the moving part of the prosthesis. In young patients, ceramic is used in the moving part today.

PROSTHETIC DENTAL PRICES 2022?

Prosthesis teeth offer a wide variety of possibilities according to the oral structure, dental condition and the expectations of the patient, and their prices vary accordingly. Prosthetic tooth prices vary according to the types listed below in 2022. Prosthetic teeth offer a wide range of diversity, from a fixed crown applied to a single tooth to a removable total prosthesis to replace all teeth. Therefore, there is no standard in terms of prices. At this point, the expectations of the patient are also very important. In prosthetic teeth, especially fixed prostheses can be made using different materials. This affects the prices of prosthetic teeth in 2022. Fixed or mobile prosthesis prices differ on the basis of:

  1. Number of prosthesis to be applied as lower and upper jaw
  2. Number of missing teeth
  3. The patient's aesthetic expectation
  4. The location of the clinic and the experience of the dentist

What is the Difference Between Removable Prosthesis and Fixed Prosthesis?

The removable prosthesis has a longer preparation stage than the fixed prosthesis. After the removable prosthesis, the construction of which continues for 6-7 weeks, is attached, the patient should not neglect the maintenance of the prosthesis. Due to the prejudice that elderly people use removable prosthesis only, patients do not prefer removable prosthesis, but they have to wear removable prosthesis in case of mass tooth loss. Individuals who wear removable dentures feel the prosthesis in the mouth and notice that the prosthesis moves when they cough or talk. For this reason, patients do not consider this treatment positively.

Maintenance in Removable Prostheses?

Removable dentures should be cleaned with a soft brush after every meal, and the denture should be kept close to the sink in order to avoid any damage during washing. Keeping such prostheses clean, which does not require cleaning with any toothpaste, allows them to be used in a healthy way for many years. These types of prostheses, which should be kept in a special container of water when not in use, cause discomfort by emitting bad odors over time if their care is neglected. Although the prosthesis is fully compatible with the mouth, it should not be used 24 hours a day, it should be removed at suitable times and protected in water or between a damp towel.

Maintenance in Fixed Prostheses?

As with removable dentures, continuous and regular maintenance is required to prolong the life of the prosthesis.

If ten and bridge prostheses are applied, careful use, care and cleaning are mandatory to prolong the life of the prosthesis and the teeth under it. No matter what material the prostheses used in the mouth are made of, it is not a natural substance after all. For this reason, oral care should be considered in order to protect oral and dental health and to protect the teeth close to the crown and bridge. Fixed denture care should be done by brushing 3 times a day, cleaning the gaps with the help of dental floss slowly and correctly from the gums to the teeth.

How Are Dentures Cleaned?

Dental prostheses can be used for a long time if they are cleaned regularly. In cases where cleaning is not done regularly, food residues, tartar and bacteria formation occur around the mouth and teeth. In addition to these, problems such as heavy odors, aesthetic losses in appearance and smile, infection in the mouth, destruction of the tissue under the prosthesis arise.

The most effective method of keeping the prosthesis clean at all times is to brush it at least 3 times a day and to soak it in sterile chemical liquids several times a week. Denture cleaning, which should be done regularly on a daily basis, starts with meticulous washing with water after each meal. In addition, brushing the dentures with a soft brush before going to bed at night is very important to prevent bacteria and plaque formation on the denture.

All surfaces of the prosthesis should be cleaned with the same care, if possible, all surfaces should be touched by using angled brushes. Another method of keeping the dentures constantly clean is to keep them in water in a closed container when they are not needed. While it may be sufficient to remove the teeth and rinse the mouth thoroughly in total dentures, it is necessary to use some cleaning tools in the cleaning of removable dentures. The tools used should also be cleaned with effervescent tablets that can be placed in water. Prostheses should be cleaned using a prosthetic brush as much as possible, otherwise all surfaces should be reviewed with the help of a soft toothbrush.

What Should Be Considered in Prosthesis Care?

Prosthetic dental care is carried out as follows:

  1. Care should be taken to clean the teeth with water after eating.
  2. Teeth should be brushed regularly every day.
  3. Toothbrushes specially produced for prosthetic teeth should be preferred.
  4. Care should be taken to brush all teeth during tooth brushing.
  5. When movable prostheses are not used, they should be kept in water so that they do not dry out. If the waiting process is done in a special denture cleaner, the denture should be washed before using it.
  6. Brushing dentures with a toothbrush alone will not be enough. A good cleaning should be done using dental floss.
  7. Dental examinations should be attended regularly.

Is it difficult to Eat After Denture Treatment?

Nutrition after dentures is a very challenging process. Starting to eat without any problems differs from patient to patient. On average, it takes 1 month. The points to be considered in this process are as follows:

  1. While eating, the lips should not be opened and the food should be chewed slowly.
  2. After the denture application, the bite should be taken from both sides of the mouth and chewed equally on both sides. Especially in the very aftermath of process the prosthetic tooth is made, this application facilitates the habituation process.
  3. The bites taken while eating should be quite small.
  4. Soft foods should be preferred instead of hard foods, while the muscles are expected to get stronger after the prosthetic tooth procedure. Foods such as pasta, vegetable dishes and rice can be consumed.
  5. If the prosthesis is protruding in the mouth, the prosthesis should be corrected by going to the dentist.
  6. Although nutrition is not easy in the process of getting used to after denture treatment, the patient should be determined in this process. If he is willing to get used to it and does not give up, this process is overcome in a short time. Also if
  7. If the patient has an old prosthesisand if she/he has difficulty eating with the new prosthesis and does not have difficulty with the old prosthesis, care should be taken not to continue using the old prosthesis in such cases. Otherwise, it makes it difficult for her/him to get used to the new prosthesis.

How long does it take to get a prosthesis after the teeth are extracted?

Ideally, a six-month recovery period is preferred after tooth extraction and before starting the prosthesis construction. However, a temporary Immediate Prosthesis can be given at this stage.

What should you do when you wear a prosthesis for the first time?

Speak slowly: When you wear a prosthesis for the first time, it may be difficult to speak properly at first. Be patient. Practice saying difficult words out loud and speak slowly. If your dentures move when you laugh or smile, bite lightly and swallow to put them in place. Consult your dentist if fit adjustment is required, conduct a systematic review.

Eat soft foods: Eat foods with a soft consistency. Avoid hard and sticky foods. Use both sides of your mouth at the same time while chewing. This prevents your dentures from sliding forward or tipping over.

Use an adhesive Denture adhesives can help keep dentures in place. However, denture adhesives should not be used to fix old or poorly fitting dentures and should generally be avoided. Follow the instructions carefully when using glue. Use only a small amount.

Make sure your dentures fit properly: Over time, the contour of the back may change and the dentures may not fit properly. This may be an indication that the denture needs to be adjusted, replaced or replaced by your dentist. Never try to adjust the dentures yourself.

How long does it take to get used to the prosthetic tooth?

The prosthetic tooth habituation time differs from patient to patient. You get used to it slowly within a few weeks, and the acclimation process can be completed in a few months. In this process, there may be difficulties in eating and speaking functions. In addition, if a feeling of fullness or relaxation occurs, there is no need to worry. The muscles in the cheeks and tongue will adjust the correct position to hold the prosthesis in place.

Excessive salivation may occur in patients while getting used to the prosthetic tooth. It can be felt that the tongue cannot find a sufficient space, and accordingly, there may be irritation and pain in the mouth. While it is quite normal to experience such situations during the habituation process, irritations in the mouth may pass in a short time. However, if the patient is too uncomfortable with this situation, he/she should go to the dentist and report the situation. Accordingly, a different treatment plan can be followed.
